After carefully studying this Premium Gem, we believe that it should have received the coveted Gold CAC sticker, rather than the present green oval. The surfaces are flawless, the strike is exceptional, and the color is amazing. Both sides of this frosty and highly lustrous Mint State piece are essentially full Red. Only the slightest mellowing of the orange mint luster is noted on the reverse. Лот 12118 1909-S Lincoln Cent. V.D.B. AU-58 (PCGS). A lovely Choice AU key date example, which seems very close to Mint State. The tan surfaces reveal some streaky woodgrain toning on the obverse, and golden peripheral accents on the reverse. Both sides are mark-free. PCGS# 2426.

The surfaces retain complete mint red, but it should be pointed out that as with many S-VDBs the color actually has a significant presence of yellow in the bronze alloy. Each side is finely granular and the strike is bold throughout. The coin is sharply struck, as befits the issue, and there are no mentionable blemishes save for a minor reverse carbon fleck in the field below the legend. Appealing Gem full Red quality in an example of the low mintage and ever popular '09-S V.D.B. cent. PCGS# 2428.

There are a few tiny specks on the obverse, but they are light gray as opposed to dark. Key date issue and rarely found with this much mint color, as the number struck came in at 484,000 pieces.
