Los 3222 1909-S VDB 1C MS65+ Red PCGS. This is one of the finer S-VDB cents we have seen recently. The surfaces retain complete mint red, but it should be pointed out that as with many S-VDBs the color actually has a significant presence of yellow in the bronze alloy. Each side is finely granular and the strike is bold throughout. Still, this first-year-of-issue American classic sells quickly, and remains one of the most famous, popular coins in numismatics. Lovely surfaces are drenched in original medium-orange luster, the peripheries further adorned with delicate pinkish-rose tinting that is more pronounced on the obverse. The coin is sharply struck, as befits the issue, and there are no mentionable blemishes save for a minor reverse carbon fleck in the field below the legend. Los 6386 1909-S Lincoln Cent. V.D.B. MS-65 RB (NGC). Light golden-red in color with just enough fading to keep this from the Red category. There are a few tiny specks on the obverse, but they are light gray as opposed to dark. Key date issue and rarely found with this much mint color, as the number struck came in at 484,000 pieces. Sharp on all devices and a desirable example of this key date. PCGS# 2427.

Frosty mint orange surfaces enjoy bright golden highlights. The strike is needle-sharp and the eye appeal easily meets the standards of the grade. Somewhat matte-like in appearance, as usually seen for this first-year issue. Easily among the most famous of all small cent issues, the demand for quality specimens never diminishes; indeed, it probably magnifies with each passing year.
