La moneta del 1936 fu emessa per celebrare la costituzione dell’Impero. L’ulteriore riduzione del peso e del diametro fu conseguente alla nuova parità monetaria fissata in ragione di gr. 4,677 di oro fino di ogni 100 lire: per questa ragione il Pagani ed il Simonetti le distinguono di primo e di secondo tipo.

Los 21230 Very Rare Pair of Late Vittorio Emanuele III Issues in Gold ITALY. 100 & 50 Lire, 1936-R. Fr-35 & 37; KM-82 & 83; Gig-25 & 42; Mont-13 & 24. A VERY RARE pair, among the last gold issues of the Fascist regime. The 50 Lire has a mintage of 790 pieces and is graded PCGS MS66; the 100 Lire has a mintage of 812 pieces and is graded PCGS MS65. As their grades suggest, both coins remain in exceptional, minimally handled condition, each displaying fine, silky luster in the fields and raised designs that are sharp and fully executed. As is common for the period, each coin has a few copper toning spots, their presence more an indication of their combined originality than a detriment. An EXTREMELY RARE opportunity to acquire both issues (both unsurpassed in grade at PCGS) in one fell swoop. Estimate: $36,000 - $40,000. PCGS MS-65 & 66.

Los 32418 Vittorio Emmanuele III gold 100 Lire 1936-R Anno XIV MS64 NGC, Rome mint, KM83, Fr-35, Pag-650. Commemorating the Conquest of Ethiopia and the Expanding Italian Sphere of Influence. Obv. Bare head right. Rev. Roman soldier advancing left, holding victoriola and fasces over shoulder. Boasting an impressively minuscule mintage of just 812 pieces, this brilliantly lustrous near-gem exhibits a charming cartwheel radiance along with a blissful golden-orange tone. Some light hairlines are evident, and are the only thing preventing a much higher designation. A similarly graded NGC MS64, though exhibiting a fair number of spots, realized a hammer of $10,000 in our 2010 NYINC auction (sale 3008, lot 22409).
