Bust of Empress Alexandra in the center, facing right, surrounded by busts of the Royal children with no circles. The fields are prooflike, with a few light marks, the strike is bold and the surfaces exhibit mottled gray toning. Close examination reveals that there is no actual circulation on this piece. There is the slightest hint of cabinet-friction type rubbing on the high points of the reverse, and none on the obverse. The diagnostic break in the die is visible on the reverse edge, between 2 and 5 o'clock. One of the recognizable treasures of Russian numismatics and an issue that stirs excitement whenever an example appears in the marketplace.
