An extremely rare and enchanting novodel issue, with an attractive steel-gray tone and wondrous underlying luster. Fairly sharply struck, this piece is almost never seen---the only other example which we could locate was from the famous Hess/Leu sale in 1968 (cited in Bitkin) and selling most recently in Sincona 24 (12 October 2015), lot 277 for a hammer of ChF 8,500. In our opinion, the present coin features a stronger strike and greater eye-appeal, and should generate an impressive degree of interest. From the D. Moore Collection
