Lote 1242 1909-S VDB 1C MS66 Red and Brown PCGS. CAC. After carefully studying this Premium Gem, we believe that it should have received the coveted Gold CAC sticker, rather than the present green oval. The surfaces are flawless, the strike is exceptional, and the color is amazing. Both sides of this frosty and highly lustrous Mint State piece are essentially full Red. Only the slightest mellowing of the orange mint luster is noted on the reverse. Lote 12118 1909-S Lincoln Cent. V.D.B. AU-58 (PCGS). A lovely Choice AU key date example, which seems very close to Mint State. The tan surfaces reveal some streaky woodgrain toning on the obverse, and golden peripheral accents on the reverse. Both sides are mark-free. PCGS# 2426.

Lote 12113 1909-S Lincoln Cent. V.D.B. MS-65 RD (PCGS). A gorgeous example of this famous 20th century rarity, with rich mint-red color and lustrous, essentially mark-free surfaces. This lovely Gem example will be highly prized by its next owner. PCGS# 2428.

Lote 3222 1909-S VDB 1C MS65+ Red PCGS. This is one of the finer S-VDB cents we have seen recently. The surfaces retain complete mint red, but it should be pointed out that as with many S-VDBs the color actually has a significant presence of yellow in the bronze alloy. Each side is finely granular and the strike is bold throughout. A lens reveals a faint fingerprint fragment near the G in GOD, but both sides are without any indication of contact. Much scarcer than the more famous 1909-S VDB in the present quality. Lote 3238 1909-S VDB 1C MS64 Red PCGS. Widely hoarded at the time of its release, the 1909-S VDB is fairly available in all grades. Still, this first-year-of-issue American classic sells quickly, and remains one of the most famous, popular coins in numismatics. This specimen is sharply impressed, and displays reddish-pink and coppery-gold patination. Lote 6382 1909-S Lincoln Cent. V.D.B. MS-65 RD (PCGS). OGH. Lovely surfaces are drenched in original medium-orange luster, the peripheries further adorned with delicate pinkish-rose tinting that is more pronounced on the obverse. The coin is sharply struck, as befits the issue, and there are no mentionable blemishes save for a minor reverse carbon fleck in the field below the legend. Appealing Gem full Red quality in an example of the low mintage and ever popular '09-S V.D.B. cent. PCGS# 2428.

Lote 6386 1909-S Lincoln Cent. V.D.B. MS-65 RB (NGC). Light golden-red in color with just enough fading to keep this from the Red category. There are a few tiny specks on the obverse, but they are light gray as opposed to dark. Key date issue and rarely found with this much mint color, as the number struck came in at 484,000 pieces. Sharp on all devices and a desirable example of this key date. PCGS# 2427.

Frosty mint orange surfaces enjoy bright golden highlights. The strike is needle-sharp and the eye appeal easily meets the standards of the grade. Somewhat matte-like in appearance, as usually seen for this first-year issue. Easily among the most famous of all small cent issues, the demand for quality specimens never diminishes; indeed, it probably magnifies with each passing year.
